Lucky Roach / Cucaracha Suertuda

cucaracha suertuda

lucky roach

Today aCockroach entered my cellI didn’t step on itI didn’t kill itI was jealous of itIt can come in and outThrough these steel bars and I can’tI picked it upAnd tossed it to freedom

Constantly on my mindSociety is blindTo a prisoner’s painDeaf to a prisoner’s criesTo the struggles his family enduresDeath/sickness/dramaLoneliness among the mass incarceratedSentenced to the cell all dayMakes the pain more intenseI can’t make senseOf my mistake/ten seconds of lifeWhat if/what ifRunning through my headAn endless marathonCan you please make it stop? What if/what ifI was a cockroachAlleviate my pain/Don’t step on meToss me toward freedom!
