‘All Things in Color’
By Erika Ray
The butterfly represents transition and new beginnings. I wanted to overlap colors with my hands as a way to show how we all—every color, race, ethnicity—connect and imprint on each other, creating pictures and stories through our kinship. Converging the butterfly with these colors through abstract art (i.e., the fingerprints and short brush strokes) makes me love the butterfly more and more.
When I think of the title “All Things in Color,” a cautionary sensation in the eyes gives energy to the heart and begs the spirit to see, explore, search for the true meaning of color, leading us always to a new beginning.
