A Decade of Pain

By Miguelangel Garcia

Young souls dreaming.

Together for a summer.

Getting to know each other,

Young Love.

Lovely friendship developed through

The beautiful aromas of the flowers.

Summer!

Butterflies gliding over the grass’s dew,

Sun shining bright.

Dark clouds appear,

Raining misery.

Young man incarcerated,

Lion caged.

Forgotten by his love,

Forgotten by his friend.

He went into a rage,

Pain consumed him.

A decade apart,

Weighing heavy on the man’s heart.

Body in chains,

New memories detained.

His past sustains his sanity,

Reliving his summer love.

His love became a dream.

A decade of dreaming,

Beautiful green eyes,

Perfect body,

Sweet kisses.

Old memories imprinted in his brain,

Every detail of his summer of love.

To tell the grief of memory,

Sadness in his loneliness,

Cold in silent darkness.

Steel bars watching,

Harbinger of gloom.

Old love a light shining,

Illuminating his smile,

Bringing color to the broken man’s life,

A friend needed

To piece together his heart.

Powerful friendship

That nothing can sever.

Friends stronger together.
